New Parents

Car Seat Safety

Partner: Ministry of Transportation

This one-hour program is designed for parents, caregivers, and new families who want to learn the basics of car seat safety. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the different types of car seats, proper installation, and how to ensure children are travelling safely at every stage. This session empowers families with practical knowledge to help keep children safe on the road.

Please note: A minimum of 10 participants is required for this course to run.

Kindergarten

Fire Safety

Partner: Belleville Fire Department 

This one-hour interactive fire safety program helps kindergarten students learn what firefighters look like in full gear, reducing fear during emergency situations. Children have the opportunity to see, touch, and explore each piece of firefighter equipment up close while learning why it is used. The final 20 minutes of the program are spent outside in the Safety Village, where students reinforce key fire safety lessons through hands-on, experiential learning.

Home Safety

This one-hour interactive program teaches children about common unsafe items found in the home, such as objects that are slippery, hard, or sharp. Through hands-on learning, children discover where these hazards are most commonly found in the most frequently used rooms of a house, and learn simple ways to stay safe in everyday situations. 

Emergency Preparedness

Our one-hour LEGO® Emergency Preparedness Workshop, offered once per month, invites children to explore real-world emergency scenarios through hands-on, interactive learning. Participants are introduced to a disaster situation and use their knowledge to build LEGO® models that represent emergency responses and community solutions, then share the story and meaning behind their creations. Guided reflection and group discussion help deepen understanding of preparedness, problem-solving, and safety. The program covers scenarios such as earthquakes, floods, coastal emergencies, and droughts, supporting age-appropriate learning while building teamwork, critical thinking, and resilience in a fun and engaging way.

Street Safety 

This one-hour interactive street safety program examines all aspects of staying safe around roads and transportation. Children learn about pedestrian safety, school buses, rail safety, traffic signs, road rules, and traffic awareness through hands-on exploration in the Safety Village.

New in 2026: We are excited to be transitioning to pedal cars, giving children an even more realistic and engaging way to practice road safety skills in a safe, controlled environment.

Street Safety
or
Water Safety

Street Safety

Partner: Belleville Police Service

This one-hour interactive street safety program examines all aspects of staying safe around roads and transportation. Children learn about pedestrian safety, school buses, rail safety, traffic signs, road rules, and traffic awareness through hands-on exploration in the Safety Village.

New in 2026: We are excited to be transitioning to pedal cars, giving children an even more realistic and engaging way to practice road safety skills in a safe, controlled environment.

Water Safety

This interactive session teaches children and families how to stay safe near lakes, rivers, and frozen surfaces. Topics include recognizing hazards, understanding ice conditions, and making safe choices around water in all seasons.

Through hands-on learning and real-life scenarios, participants will build confidence, awareness, and the skills needed to enjoy the outdoors safely.

Grade 5

Bike Safety

Partner: Ministry of Transportation

This one-hour interactive bike safety program teaches children essential skills for riding safely, including hand signals, traffic signs, traffic awareness, and rail safety. Through hands-on learning in the Safety Village, children practice how to communicate with others on the road and make safe choices while riding.

Ages 12+

Disaster Risk Prevention 

Partner: Red Cross

This one hour Disaster Risk Reduction focuses on preparedness and prevention. This “Be Ready” workshop is designed for any group with a minimum of 10 participants, and is best suited for individuals around age 12 and up. Participants learn how to create emergency plans, build emergency kits, and understand the risks within their community, helping them feel informed, confident, and prepared before an emergency occurs.

Ages 12-18

Driving Under the Influence

Partner: Belleville Police, Brighton Community Policing, Co-operators and Ministry of Transportation 

This impactful program educates youth ages 14–18 on the dangers of both driving under the influence and distracted driving. Using a driving simulator, real-life stories, and live learning experiences, participants gain a deeper understanding of how impairment and distractions affect reaction time, judgment, and overall road safety.

Delivered in partnership with various community members, this program encourages responsible decision-making and highlights the real-world consequences of unsafe driving behaviors.

Ages 50+

Seniors Digital & Financial Safety Program

Partner: TD and Belleville Police

This program provides practical, easy-to-understand guidance on how to recognize scams and fraud, protect personal and financial information, and safely navigate online and digital banking. Participants will also learn what steps to take if they suspect suspicious activity.

Sessions take place on the first Wednesday of every month from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, beginning May 6th, at the Safety Village.

  • Our programs are always free, ensuring every child can participate. If you are able, we welcome voluntary donations to help sustain and expand our safety education programs.

  • We can accommodate 20–25 students at one time.

     

    If you have a larger group, we recommend splitting students into two groups and running back-to-back sessions. One group participates in a one-hour program at the Children’s Safety Village while the other spends time at a nearby park (such as Kinsmen or Zwick’s). After the hour, the groups switch, allowing all students to take part in the program safely and comfortably.

  • Yes! Children have the opportunity to spend time in the Safety Village either during or after their program, depending on the program structure and weather conditions. This allows students to reinforce what they’ve learned through hands-on exploration in a safe, engaging environment.

  • Once you have selected the program you are interested in, please complete the fillable booking form below. Your submission is sent directly to our staff, and a member of our team will be in touch with you as soon as possible to confirm details and next steps.

  • If transportation is a significant barrier, we may be able to assist with bus costs in cases of demonstrated need. As a small non-profit organization, our transportation support is limited, but we will always do our best to help ensure access to our programs whenever possible.
